Scratchboard and Ink

This is the mighty Izu and part of my "Emerging" series. He lives in the San Diego Safari Park and has the noted distinction of being the father of all the cubs they have there. The San Diego Zoo is known for their success in breeding endangered species and the Safari Park is a great place to witness that success. Izu lives in grand enclosure that is perfect for snapping pictures of him - on any given day you can see him lounging on top of his "mountain" or asleep on top of his Jeep with his ladies nearby. I have thousands of photos of Izu and you'll see him as a recurring character in many of my works.

Just loaded a new file that is so much better - colors are dead on, and I updated prints.

Hello, dear Heathherzart)
I should say I have just made an acquaintance with your vivid art and it impressed me that much I realized I am gaining your level and higher!
Exact lines and proportions, well-made body balance and royal looking big cats cannot leave anyone without real delight!

There're some really not that important tips I should mention, however.
Firstly, even if it is a photographic appearance, some reflexes should be on lion's right paw - artist should colour the truth, especially in our case - classical tradition materials and realistic style.
Secondly, his right cheek also need some reflexes or it's loosing its' volume and looks flat.
Thirdly, of course I understand it may be your style in picturing but the surface on which he stands and walks ... My eyes are looking for it, perhaps, just a hint on it will be perfect.

Finally, my respects to the artist, your hands perform magic in real.
Regards,
