How do you do your whiskers so well? That's the worst part for me, and once it's done, there's no going back.  which colors did you mix to get such a perfect golden/yellow color for the cat?

Timing is the most important thing when doing scratchboard - especially color.  The whiskers are the very last thing I scratch into my picture and I do it with a very heavy tool a client made for me.  He made it out of some kind of machine part and it's ugly and clunky and perfect.  My second favorite tool has a ceramic tip but it's point is wider than the x-acto blade and it lets me cut a deep wide line across everything I've already scratched to make a perfect whisker.  One reason why it's last is because once you scratch that deep line there's no going back, no covering it up.  The second reason is if you're using color the LAST thing you want to do is have to apply more color after you've put in the whiskers because then at some point you'll have to scratch out the whiskers again to make them white and it's impossible to redraw that line without going astray.  it's maddening you spend hours scratching and repairing and scratching again just to get nice white whiskers again.

Hmmm I didn't think sad - I thought sleepy.  My kitties give me those sleepy eyes when they want a pet but are too lazy to get up.  They know I'm a pushover and I'll get up no matter what I'm doing.
