Strength and Determination by Heatherzart Strength and Determination by Heatherzart
16" x 20"
Scratchboard and Ink

This is definitely a departure for me but I have to say I really enjoyed it. Birds are a secret love of mine - the only "babies" I haven't added to my menagerie because of my husbands aversion to them and my dogs' desire for them (and price for the really cool ones). The picture of this guy was taken at the Athens zoo in Greece of all places! Raptors as a whole are mesmerizing but there's just something about a bald eagle. It's iconic, majestic, it exudes strength and determination, it makes me feel patriotic.

My next project is also a bird but one not as well known I think and absolutely stunning up close. I never appreciated them until I started using a zoom lens and really saw the detail of their faces. So stay tuned!

I recently invested in a professional photographer to take new images of all of my work (well the pieces I can still get my hands on anyways). It was money well spent! The new files all represent the work as it looks in real life and so much more of the details can be seen. As of now I've reproduced about half of my inventory - it's an expensive and time-consuming process. And I've been forced to do something I HATE ... dreaded watermarks!! Recent thefts have forced me to reevaluate my views on them so you'll see new files from me with my website strategically placed here and there.

First of all, Eagle is one of my favorite animals!!
5/5 Vision: Your drawing is really clear. The way you color is good, and it really looks real so good job.
4.5/5 Originality: I've seen a lot of people doing portraits of animals but good thing you did a good job for making a good drawing of an eagle.
5 Technique: I can really say it looks real because the technique of your coloring and drawing is really amazing. Teach me, Master :D
5 Impact: I can't say anything and all I can say is...AMAZING! The arts you posted in your gallery is amazing! Keep up the good work!

Quite simply magnificent - this image truly does convince me that if any raptor deserves to be called the 'Charlton Heston of Birds' it would have to be the Bald Eagle (although I suspect the Golden Eagle might contest that honour).:D (Big Grin)

They certainly LOOK magnificent, although I'm given to understand that some species do rather let the side down when it comes to magnificent behaviour … :D (Big Grin)
